BSYFC 2010 2 v 1 Abroath Youth 2010
DDYFA U15 League Cup Rd1
In the spirit of it being the Chinese New Year, it was a wise Sage’s saying that exemplified the team ethic of the last two games, where Breadalbane dominated but had to come from behind to win. Confucius said “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall". The lads lived and breathed this resilient attitude for the full 80 minutes over the last two weeks to seal wins.
It was the nature of the win today that counted. Our back line were rock solid, despite having difficulties with the speed of the Arbroath wingers in the previous encounter, no sign of that today. Finlay, and later Ru, stifled their fastest player attacking down the right, Cameron, and later Kris, controlled the left with determination and drive. Our central defence (Jaiden, Gojus and later Rhys) were brilliantly vigilant and communication was much better - almost nothing got through. Joel had a quiet day trying to keep warm.
A slightly changed formation today (4-4-2) where the midfield and attack remained in position all match. Everyone played their part brilliantly, shifting to support runs and working flat out for 80+ minutes, with lots of stoppage time in the second half. Our central midfield of Isaac and David took total command, their turnover rate was phenomenal today. David did not stop for a second and his passing awareness, even from his numerous tackles, was astounding. Isaac was a calm, controlled force, winning almost every high ball and feeding the wings or playing back into defence with true Zen composure.
Our wide players today, Robert and Freddie, were both on skill masterclass form. Freddie making driving runs from the right and feeding balls into Ceiran and Finn, creating countless chances. Robert was yet again running rings around his opponents harrying wide or driving centrally to confuse and befuddle - at times it felt like holding a breath as he beat the third or forth tackle before releasing to Finn or Finlay.
A change up front saw Finn and Ceiran on attack, and while it may have had it’s teething issues, their movement and speed were a nightmare for the opposition. Were it not for some phenomenal saves by the Arbroath keeper in both halves we could have had a bigger haul.
The visitors opening goal coming in the first few minutes of the game from a cross, inadvertently turned in was one blip in an otherwise brilliant performance.
Breadalbane' first goal came from a corner routine that had been practiced in training on Friday - Finn playing short to David and then curving around to receive and whip into the far post for Freddie to volley home.
The winning goal came in the dying minute of the game, following multiple attacks, Freddie received the ball from a quick throw from David near the corner flag. He turned his defender to drive along the byeline before cutting back across goal to be slammed home by Ceiran.
The players chose their man of the match today, Ceiran, for his strength and drive throughout the match - he deserved the goal, following a host of chances that would have been but for a quick witted and exceptional performance from the Arbroath goalie. Ceiran has been showing that drive and desire that all good no 9s possess.
FT 2-1
新年快乐!

St Andrews Colts 2009 6-2 BSYFC 2009
DDYFA U16 League
A tough away trip to St Andrews today for the 2009s which ended in a 6-2 defeat. Caleb suspended and James unavailable meant the 13 man squad was again reduced to a bare starting 11.
Euan stepped up and put on the gloves, producing a good display in goal. He was however powerless at times to stop a very good St Andrews forward line.
A poor start saw Breadalbane behind inside the opening minute. Something that had been talked about only minutes before. The Lads dug deep and were back on level terms when Thomas chipped the keeper, 10 mintues later, from a tight angle.
In an exciting first half where both sides created good chances, a strong penalty claim was adjudged to be inches outside the box and the resulting freekick from Paddy was brilliantly tipped over the bar.
The home side however were clinical, adding 2 goals in quick succession and then smashing a 25 yard freekick into the top corner on the stroke of half time. The award of the foul was certainly debatable, the finish was not.
4-1 down at half time, the lads came out and gave it a good shot in the second half. Thomas would grab a late consolation goal following some clever play by Ivan, but it was the home side than ran out deserved winners.
Effort from the lads couldnt be faulted, with Jayden, Alexander and Struan having very good games.
MOTM was awarded to Nathan, he was aggressive from the first minute, gave his all and used the ball well when in possession.. well done.
