11 aside teams - Sun 1st & 8th DEC

BSYFC 2012 3 v 7 Bridge of Earn 2012 (PKYFA U13 League) Sun 8th Dec

After a challenging start to the season playing 11 aside, this was another performance which confirms this group are making good progress. A much closer game against Bridge of Earn than when they played them previously and closer than the scoreline suggests. Breadalbane showed great character to pull it back to 3-4 at the start of the second half and it felt like an upset might be on the cards but it wasn’t to be.

Nonetheless, a committed performance from all involved not least the three Girls now playing which reflects how well the Girls Pathway is developing. Bruno got the first goal with a well-timed finish from Logan’s corner kick. Emma scored an absolute belter from far out on the right side after an excellent long pass from Brooklyn. Emma again for the third a tap in after the keeper could only parry Bella’s shot. Player of the Week went to Bella - sharp, vocal and committed start to finish. Well done!

Action pics thanks to Julie who has jetted off with the boys Logan & Finlay to New Zealand in search of some. Have a great time and remember to come back ! A big thank you from all the Coaches for the generous gifts they received from parents and players.

Blairgowrie 2010 5-0 Breadalbane 2010 (DDYFA U15 League) Sun 8th Dec

A tough ask away to Blairgowrie league leaders who boast an unblemished league record so far. Great to have a full squad for the last few matches and the positivity that all the players have shown has been excellent. It was there again today.

The team pressed Blairgowrie from the start and the game tended towards long balls and aerial battles. Blairgowrie showed a little more aggression and their pace out wide was causing some issues, although Rhys and Jaiden were brilliant in the centre for the visitors.

Lots of positives throughout the match. Boys moved the ball quickly and caused Blairgowrie plenty problems going forward but just lacked a bit composure in front of goal. The team are beginning to compete better physically. Some outstanding tracking back from John at left back whose pace is a real asset and Finlay putting in some strong challenges at right full back. Robert looked unplayable when he had the ball at his feet.

Blairgowrie would take their chances, capitalising on a few errors at the back and added goals where the visitors could only add close chances, including a well earned penalty, just hit wide. Breadalbane's high line in defence was occasionally caught square with the pace of Blair's forwards able to get in behind to punish.

Boys heads never went down, you could hear them talking on the pitch and battling to the end.  5-0 the scoreline, but looking forward to the home fixture at Aberfeldy later in the season.

Player of the Match goes to John, who played both left and right wingback and was outstanding in his work rate, clearing up risks at the back and in reading the game well and competing fearlessly for everything.

BSYFC 2010 2 v 5 Brechin City 2010 (DDYFA U15 League)  Sun 1st Dec

Home St the venue for the visit of Brechin City. Another match where the lads were competitive but just a bit short against more experienced opposition in this league. The learning curve continues.

Broughty Pumas 2009 5-2 BSYFC 2009 (DDYFA U16 Elmwood Cup Quarter Final) Sun 8th Dec

An away trip to Broughty in the cup with only a squad of 11 was always going to be a tough task for Callaghan's boys but after an encouraging 5-5 draw at home in the league, they went in to this one believing they could cause an upset.

It was a game of two halves, for some reason Breadalbane decided not to turn up in the first half. Second to everything and played through with ease, they went in at the break 3-0 down and with a mountain to climb!

A few harsh words at half time and a change in shape saw the lads go back out with nothing to lose. Turning the game around was always going to be difficult but restoring some pride was essential.

They were a different side in the second half and, after dominating the opening exchanges, grabbed a goal back. A very well worked goal with Liam picking out Ben who was unmarked in the box, who finished it brilliantly.

Breadalbane continued to create chances and didnt have to wait long for their second goal. This time a superb Paddy effort from the edge of the box after some good work by Caleb, 3-2 and game on!

At this point, and with a wind at their backs, it felt like only a matter of time before an equaliser. Unfortunately after a few decisions that didn't go our way Broughty won a penalty which was duly converted. The visitors pushed to try get back in the game but were punished again on the break. Full time 5-2

A great second half effort from the lads, a lot of lessons to learn and things to work on but with the second half performance there was also some positives to take.

MOTM went to Ben, showed a lot of heart in the second half and finished his opportunity brilliantly. Superb in training all week and delighted to have him back to his best.

BSYFC 2009 0-1 Dundee West 2009 (DDYFA U16 League) Sun 1st Dec

Fine margins separate the teams in competitive Dundee first division. Players and Coaches left feeling like they deserved something more out of the game again today.

A penalty would decide the match with both teams playing good football and creating decent chances with out being able to take them.

Manager Callaghan reflected " Our decision making and composure in the final third can certainly be improved upon. We need to make sure we compete all over the park for the full 80 minutes , but the lads shouldn't feel down after todays performance. Being competitive at this level was the aim for this season and we have done that every game apart from once."

Good performances all over the park with Thomas picking up the MOTM award. He offered a good threat going forward and defended well through out the game.
