GIRLS PATHWAY - SAT 9th NOV
BSYFC U10s vs Blairgowrie U10s (East Region U10 Girls Tier 1)
A 10.30ko at Home St on Saturday and first to arrive was Aurora at 9.25am to make sure the pitch had been correctly set up while her teammates arrived at 10am, apart from poor Amy and her mum who had gone to Blairgowrie instead...
The whistle went and the girls burst straight into action. The powerful trio of Hannah, Maria and Zorsia kept the ball moving, pushing forward all the time. They were backed up by a tireless Cayla and Vanessa who just kept running non-stop the entire game. If there were any breaks towards our goals, Aurora who had earned the captain's arm band and Freya were on hand to stop anything getting through to the safe hands of Eliza.
Coach Dave was delighted with the performance, " These girls blow us away every week with just how comfortable they look with what they are doing: communicating, creating space and most importantly playing with big smiles."
The second half they were all wanting a shot in goal so a quick swap of Zorsia and Eliza - one amazing keeper for another - and the second half continued in a similar fashion to the first. It’s incredible how these simply girls do not stop for the full game - well done everyone. Player of the Week was extremely hard any one of them could of had it but Cayla was in the right place time and time again giving 110% effort.
We wish Blairgowrie & Rattray Community Football Club all the best for the remainder of the season. The team now look forward to an away trip to Dundee this Saturday to play Dundee United SC.
Dundee West Reds U10s v BSYFC U10s (East Region U10 Girls Tier 2)
Another stop on the football journey for the Tier 2 girls in a dreich day in Dundee with all the fun a well-worn muddy pitch brings with it.
With the girls lining up in 2-3-1, Evie stepped up again to volunteer for first half goalkeeping duties. No subs for Breadalbane against a Dundee West team with a large squad meant it was always going to be an uphill, as well as muddy struggle. Strong defensive pairing of Layla and Eilish protected the goal, but the size and strength of the Dundee girls who are about to move up to U12s next season proved an arduous task along with the slippery conditions underfoot, despite this, both girls turned the ball outside well and slotted long balls forward to wingers Emilia and Lily who ran tirelessly for the half. Supported in midfield by Kamilla, Daphne had a hard afternoon against stronger and quicker girls but still made good space to receive the ball and the Dundee West defence did well to show her outside numerous times on great darting runs.
In the second half, Lily took over from Evie and what a revelation she was! Standing up to much larger onrushing attackers time and time again she made the box her own. Layla and Elish moved up to midfield, while Daphne and Kamilla ran things from the back. Emilia switched to centre-mid and despite close aggresive marking created good link up play with Evie who had taken her spot up front. Another tiring half of football on the deteriorating surface ensued, with Breadalbane proving threatening on the counter.
At the final whistle it was smiles all round from the girls who know the performance is more important than the result at this stage. They did some things very well and identified areas we need to work on and the girls can quite rightly be proud of themselves.
Player of the Week: Though a quiet first half in right midfield, Lily stepped up to take gloves and produced a string of impressively brave blocks to frustrate Dundee taking the award for this week. An honourable mention also has to go to Eilish who played probably her best game in blue to date, her tracking back, ball control, tackling and passing accuracy, as well as her ever present positivity shows her game is most definitely on the right trajectory! Thanks to Dundee West FC for hosting and onwards and upwards as we host Kinross Colts FC Juniors this Saturday.
BSYFC U14 Girls - Free week
No fixture for our oldest girls team but they have put together two high quality training sessions ahead of the visit of Dundee East Community Sports Club this Saturday.
A big thanks to Abbie Telford from St. Johnstone Womens F.C giving up her time to help coach the team on Wednesday and have a chat with them about her footballing journey. Fantastic for the Girls to be able to relate to a fellow pupil at Breadalbane Academy who is carving out a career in football. Abbie was impressed with the standard of football on show and passed on some wise advice to the Girls about the importance of listening to their Coaches....
