Scone Thistle 2012 2-3 BSYFC (U13 PKYFA League)
Another strong performance from the U13s in sunny Scone. The whole team played well in a dominant first half display played mostly in opposition territory. A well organised defence made it difficult for Scone Thistle Community Club to keep possession. The team created lots of chances, with Bruno breaking the deadlock and following up with another well taken goal ⚽⚽. Ross then found the net ⚽ from a tight angle after beating a couple of defenders on the left side of the box.
HT 0-3
The side were a too relaxed at the start of the second half and Scone made them pay by scoring twice. This made for a slightly more nervy last 20mins but, to their credit, the team continued to play well with the defence looking solid and could've had another couple of goals.
FT 2-3
Max was awarded Player of the Week. He’s been listening well in training, made some great runs, and played well in two different positions. Well done!
Forfar Athletic 2010 3-1 BSYFC 2010 (U15 DDYFA League)
The U15s could've taken more from this match had they been more ruthless in front of goal. Nontheless another performance against a good Forfar Athletic Community Football Club team that confirms they are making steady progress in the right direction and getting to grips with life in the Dundee league.
Despite a bright start they found themselves a goal behind after conceding from a corner. Forfar extended their lead by converting the rebound after Joel had made a great initial save. They would concede a third before Finn got the goal their play deserved.
The boys continue to apply themselves at training and continue to improve. They entertaining Douglas Youth FC in the league this Sunday Breadalbane Community Campus with almost a full squad available.
BSYFC 2009 2 v 3 Balgonie Scotia 2009 (U16 SYFA Inspire Sport Scottish Cup 3rd round)
Today marked the end of the U16s Scottish Cup dream but it was a performance to be proud of. The small squad had taken a battering this week and, with only 11 fit players available, it was always going to be a tough task against the Champions of Fife.
Manager Callaghan was quick to point out "Defeat at any time is hard to take but on days where the team have given their all it certainly softens the blow. I can't fault the effort the boys put into today's match. They refused to fold at 3-1 down and produced some of their most sustained pressure. It was a well contested match and we wish Balgonie the best of luck in the next round."
Despite a strong start by the away side, it was Breadalbane would take the lead in the 13th minute. Caleb latched on to a long ball, he took it in his path and finished brilliantly in to the bottom left. 1-0!
The game now settled down with both sides enjoying good spells of possession. Balgonie found the equaliser 10 minutes later and although some good chances were created by both teams, they went in level at the break.
HT 1-1
The message at half time was for more of the same, but to be more clinical in front of goal and keep the effort levels up! A long discussion between the coaches resulted in no half time subs being made.
Breadalbane began the second half strongly and for the opening 10 minutes looked the better side. But it was the away side that would take the lead. A Balgonie corner was only half cleared, we were slow to react and ended up punished as the strike from the edge of the box found the bottom corner of the net, in off the post giving the goalkeeper no chance.
We pushed for an equaliser and just as the chances started to fall Balgonie made it 3-1. 10 minutes to go and a mountain to climb for the lads but climb they did.. They threw everything in to the final 10mins and were rewarded with a penalty. Caleb cooly dispatched it low and hard to the bottom left. 2-3.. game on!
The last 5 mins saw a couple of good chances created but we couldn't take them and exited this year's Scottish Cup.
There was plenty of praise from the large home crowd for the lads as they came off the pitch shattered having given a great team performance. Alex stepped in and partnered Ivan at centre half with another very solid display. Everyone gave their all but for the second week in a row MOTM went to Ivan. The big lad was outstanding, as he is most weeks and he thoroughly deserved the award. Some superb challenges certainly kept Breadalbane in it early on but his use of the ball is making a big difference for the team now.
Big shout out to Caleb, another couple more goals to add to his ever increasing tally but even more pleasing was his movement and how sharp he looked. Liam had a great game playing in a more attacking midfield position, showing great composure on the ball and using it to very good effect. Lastly Calum, another very consistent performer who gives his all in any position for the team every time he is available.
The lads can all be proud of how they played today. Almost every game this season is a tough one but the boys keep steadily improving and showing what they are capable of.
