BSYFC U10s v Blairgowrie U10s
A good morning at Home St for both our Girls U10s teams on Saturday for their final fixture before the October holidays against Blairgowrie & Rattray Community Football Club.
The unstoppable Evie volunteered for goalkeeping duties for the Whites in the first half. She pulled off some outstanding saves to keep a tight contest which made for great viewing for the fans. Layla and Eilish were rock solid at the back, chasing down players endlessly and never giving up on a ball. Emilia captained the team from centre-mid, making surging run through the middle and laying the ball wide to wingers Kamilla and Daphne. Lily started up front, and was able to be in the right place at the right time against a very tough Blair defence. Leona produced another battling performance.
In the second half, defenders became midfielders and vice versa. Evie took command in midfield, winning the ball well and making good runs forward. Eilish took over between the sticks showing good handling as well as brave goalkeeping at the feet of the Blair attack to thwart the opposition time and again. All in all, a well fought contest against a well matched opponent and all the coaches and girls on both sides really enjoyed the tussle.
A tough one for Player of the Week but having shown great running, great positioning and tirelessly sprinting back again and again to strip the ball from the Blair attack was Layla - an excellent all round performance but a real star at left back on the day. Well done Layla !
On the adjacent pitch the U10 Blues went about their business under the watchful eye of Pep Campbell.
They produced some quality football and kept an excellent shape. Vanessa ran midfield backed up by Zosia and Hannah while Amy, Freya and Aurora patrolled the defence and found the midfield with their accurate passing. Chances were being created and Maria didn't need to be asked twice to convert them with a clinical display of finishing. Eliza came out of goals in the second half for Maria to take over for some unorthodox but effective goalkeeping. Zosia and Hannah were constant threats down either wing and their deliveries were finished well by Eliza who looks a natural striker. Credit to Blair who never stopped working and got their rewards.
A real top drawer performance from Breadalbane where the players are starting to gain an understanding of each other's game. Lots of attacking flair on show, but the Player of the Match was Amy for her resolute defending and accurate passing. She rarely misses a tackle and reads the game brilliantly.
A fine pair of games to end the block of fixtures with, and Coaches Kris, Jim, Dave & Olivia are already looking forward to seeing how the teams develop into 2025.
Scone Thistle U14 8-1 BSYFC U14
The U14s travelled to Scone Thistle Girls Football Club for a friendly in confident mood after their excellent showing in the SPAR Future Stars 7 a-side schools competition. Perhaps Fridays exertions took their toll, as they never were able to quite get going. Although they found the net it tended to be at the wrong end. As we've come to expect from this group, they kept working for each other right till the end. Great to see Ellie back to her best with the ball at her feet and she picked up the Player of the Match.
