BSYFC 2009 5-5 BROUGHTY UTD PUMAS 2009 - 22nd Sep

Gaffer Callaghan spent last Saturday evening trying to secure a new signing so the lads could at least take the field with 11 players for the visit of Broughty United. Despite being prepared to play with 10 men, former player Alex came to the rescue and would go on to make a fantastic return to football.

A large crowd at Home St were treated to a thrilling match. Breadalbane would throw away a 4-2 lead but showed fantastic character to equalise late and even found time after drawing level to go agonisingly close to taking all three points. Ivan ⚽, Ben ⚽, Paddy⚽ and Caleb ⚽⚽ bagged the goals with some great finishes from the lads.

Caleb grabs the equaliser with minutes to go

Ivan and Thomas shared the MOTM award. Ivan has been a great addition at centre half this season, winning almost every challenge he makes, and uses the ball very effectively. He grabbed the first goal and had a brilliant block on the line in the second half for what was a very special performance. Thomas was also on fire today at his very dangerous best playing the attacking full back role. Shout outs to Paddy, Ben, Caleb and Jayden although everyone did well today these 4 lads had great games. Today the most important thing was the team performance. The side rose to the challenge and produced a terrific display.

BSYFC 2010 2-7 ARBROATH YFC BLUES 2010 - 22nd Sep

The same dilemma of having only 10 fit players faced the U15 Coaches whose squad was also depleted by injury and absence. Thankfully, two quality late additions were found. Harris made a welcome return to football while new signing John came with a reputation of plenty pace.

Arbroath Youth Football Club started well and raced to an early 0-3 lead with their pace out wide causing problems. Breadalbane were still enjoying a decent amount of possession and their effort could not be faulted. Robert was outstanding in the centre, winning a thousand battles and running rings around the opposition.  Scoring chances were also being created with Cieran's power causing the visitor's defence problems.

Harris was quick footed, worked tirelessly all over the pitch, never letting up on chasing balls down and taking men on. John was revelatory down the right wing, his bursts of pace and clever touch causing trouble down the right. Breadalbane's persistence just before half time. A quick throw fell to Cieran, who threaded through to Freddie who calmly laid off for Ru to power home. 1-3. After the break, Breadalbane would also claim the next goal ⚽ to drag themselves right back into it. A weaving Robert was caught with a trailing leg for a  free kick. Up steps Finn with a brilliant strike into the top of the net. Hesitation in defence, saw Arbroath run in two goals that might’ve been preventable. As tired legs took hold, they added another couple. as the match ended 7-2.

Player of the Match was a hard choice. John played a blinder for his first match, tearing down the wing and reading the game really well. Joel marshalled his defence and put himself on the line in his captaincy role. Ru, reverting into a more central midfield role, played a number of key passes and scored a stunning goal. Cieran was unswerving in chasing down and winning errant balls, and being a threat up front. It was Robert, though, awarded POM for his brilliance in dribbling, his persistence in retrieving balls lost, and overall work rate.

The step-up to the Dundee league has been a real challenge but the boys are learning and improving every week.

RIVERSIDE WEST END 2009  0-1 BSYFC 2009 - 15th Sep

It was the Late, Late Show for the U16s the previous Sunday as they squeezed past Riverside West End away in the Scottish Cup. Despite dominating the match in windy conditions, the deadlock was only broken 5 minutes from time by Caleb ⚽. The U16s now face old rivals Scone Thistle in the second round.

BSYFC 2010 4-6 CARNOUSTIE PANMURE 2010 - 15th Sep

The boys were tasked with starting the match better than previous games which they did and then some!  Despite some neat passes, better  communication and a drive to get forward, they were stung by a quick opening goal from the visitors. They replied in the 21st minute after Ceiran broke into the box, to give the boys their first home goal! Two more goals ⚽⚽ for Breadalbane from wingers Finn and Freddie made it 3-1 by half time.

Second half saw a stronger Carnoustie Panmure Youth coming at the Breadalbane with everything they had as the boys lost the drive to get up the pitch when in possession. Mistakes and fatigue crept in as the match finished 6-4 to Carnoustie.

The increased physical demands of the new league are proving a real challenge but the team are getting fitter. The boys can hold their head high. They listened to instruction and applied themselves with passion and a great attitude. MOTM (as voted by the players) went to captain Jaiden for a terrific all-round performance

Thanks to everyone involved with the catering which makes for great match days at Home St. Be good to have as many parents taking a turn to help with this as possible.
