11 a-side teams find the going tough..

BSYFC 2012 1-8 Crieff 2012

Despite the scoreline, there were encouraging signs in the U13s performance against a strong Crieff side at Home Street. Crieff took their chances well in the first half to build a commanding lead but as Breadalbane settled into a better pattern of play, it was a far closer second half. Most importantly, the squad of only 11 players gave their absolute all for the entire match regardless of the score. None more so than Brooklyn who earned Man of the Match for a really committed performance at centre back, taking on board the advice about being more disciplined positionally.

BSYFC 2010 0-7 Mearns Youth 2010

The U15s went into their third match of the season with a good deal of optimism, against  Mearns Youth who had travelled a fair distance. The team were dealt a blow before kick off with keeper Joel unavailable. Worse was to come in the shape of the first half performance that lacked any urgency or committment. The visitors slotted the ball in the back of the net with alarming regularity, tearing through the Breadalbane midfield and defence.  The half time break saw the team 5 goals down along with their heads and accepting defeat with what looked like more goals to come.

However the team emerged in the second half with a far more willing attitude, prepared to battle and started to play some decent football. The defence tightened up and threw in some great tackles. The midfield were on point and started looking for gaps to feed in some lovely through ball passes. The strikers from the smallest to the tallest in the team just flew at Mearns Youth defence and started to battle forward into the box. Unfortunately they couldn’t get the goal that their play deserved for the second wind of courage on the pitch. Every single one of the players in the second half, put in a great effort, making the defeat a lot easier to comprehend. Jaiden received MOTM for his consistency and work ethic in his defending role in the second half. Kris deserves a shout stepping up to play in goal with some great saves.

Hopefully the lesson taken from this  performance is that working hard and committing to playing together as a team is what matters most above any tactics.

Fair City 2009 4-2 BSYFC 2009

Disapointing defeat for the U16s, away at Fair City in the league. Manager Callaghan however remained upbeat "despite the small squad we remain competitive in a Dundee first division full of strong teams. When switched on, we are a real handful for anyone. We look more solid at the back than last year but better decision making and we need everyone competing all of the time. The last 3 games have only been lost by fine margins but the opposition have looked that bit sharper."

There were some very good performances at the weekend. Ben grabbed both goals with well taken finishes. Calum and Struan had solid games and James commanded his box brilliantly. It was however Ivan who picked up the MOTM award. One lad that certainly didnt lack fight, winning everything he went for and unlucky to pick up an injury at a crucial time in the match.
