Weekly Wrap

16/05/2024

A weekend of sunshine and a lots of cracking football. Some eye catching team performances, overshadowed by Paddy from the U15s breaking his collar bone after falling awkwardly. The striker has been a revelation since joining this season and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.

Reduced squad sizes was a common theme due to injuries and the Etape road closures. No shortage of players however for the U10 Girls who put on another barnstorming performance at Home St where the surface was in fantastic condition as they hosted AM Soccer Girls.

The team kept their shape well and decision making to pass or take players on was first class. The side welcomed Kamilla for her first start and there were performances all over the pitch, making it a difficult decision for Player of the Week. For an outstanding first half display in goals, followed by an outfield display that had everything - accurate passing, clinical finishing,  great work rate - it went to Eliza.

Credit to both sets of players, coaches and spectators as this match  was played in fantastic spirits.

Meanwhile the older U14 Girls were in Kirkcaldy  bright and early, very early. It was never going to be an easy task with Emma, Isabella and Erika all out injured especially in the heat. A clinical strike from Lexie breathed some life into the tie at 4-1 but without the luxury of fresh legs the match ranaway from them in the closing stages as RRCC Girls Section U14s were worthy winners. The Breadalbane Brave hearts effort and character was again unquestionable. None more so than midfielder Holly and Player of the Day who was everywhere, constantly driving the team on.

On Sunday the 2012s entertained Crieff Juniors FootballClub to Breadalbane Campus 3G. A tight affair with a couple of well taken goals from Holly and Logan. Excellent effort from everyone,  pressing the opposition at every opportunity and always looking for the ball. Another committed display saw Brooklyn earn Player of the Match.

Nearby at Home St, the 2013s were down to the barebones with just 7 players to face Scone Thistle 2013. That didn't stop them from showing some solid defending with Oliver pulling off some massive saves in the first half. The team couldn't quite find the finishing touch to some nice moves but finally got their breakthrough in the second half with Kacper finding the net twice. Ethan and Paul shared goalkeeping duties during the second half and both did really well. A joint player of the week....Paul and Kacper. Well done guys.

While all that was going on at Aberfeldy, our 3 youngest age groups were all in action at Perth.

At the Bertha Park Festivals, Fun4s of Leona, Cooper, Josip and Jack all had a great time. Lots of fantastic football skills on show with good teamwork. Coach Sean really pleased with how they are progressing.

Super 5s had two teams entered although it looked like the Breadalbane Blues would only have 4 players before Josip from the Fun 4's came to the rescue and settled in great. Coaches Julie and Shane were delighted with the team work, passing, defending & good communication with some well worked goals as a reward. Our player of the week was Max for his great team contribution and goal keeping.

The Breadalbane Whites matches went incredibly well. Quality passing and keeping their shape which resulted in some fantastic play. Whenever the opposition did break through they had the wonder-keeper Cat in goals stopping nearly everything that came her way. Callum bagged a couple of goals in addition to some great defending which helped him achieve the Player of the Day award. Matthew was involved in everything while Finlay and Cameron put in some amazing tackles and great runs up the wings.

The 2015s were on the the South Inch to face a well organised Fair City Junior FC team at 7 aside. The team lacked their usual spark and at times tried to play as individuals rather than a team. Jamie had to be called upon repeatedly in goals to make brilliant saves which would earn him Player of the Match while Arran turned in another selfless hard-working display.

Early afternoon and back home,  our two remaining 11 aside teams, the U14s and U15s were in action.

On the Astro at Breadalbane Campus the 2010s raced into an early lead against Luncarty. More goals followed as they dominated play and effortlessly moved the ball. 5-2 Breadalbane at half time with Joel's positioning in goals expertly dealing with any through balls.

Despite the home side extending their lead, history has shown in this fixture that you can never discount Luncarty 2011s. They clawed their way back into the game, and began to pile on the pressure after the final water break. It was a nervy final few minutes at 6-5 as Breadalbane wilted in the heat without the luxury of any substitutes. To their credit, they remained composed to see the game out well. The entire team put a serious shift in but Player of the Match was Isaac. He seemed to be everywhere on the pitch, making countless interceptions and always unafraid to take his man on in the final third. They face an away trip on Wednesday to face league Champions Letham.

A similar tight affair at Home St as the 2009s entertained Montrose Youth Football Club

for a Dundee & District league encounter as they aimed to put the disappointment of last weekend's Cup final behind them.

Its been a year of strong cup runs but the U15s league form has suffered a little at times. Not today, as they produced a gutsy fight back to win 2-1 against a very good Montrose Youth side. A real competitive game played in the right spirits and an excellent advert for youth football.

Despite a bright start, Breadalbane went behind to a sloppy goal. Paddy levelled just before the break which was no more than the home side deserved.

Early in the second half Breadalbane were dealt a severe blow when talisman striker Paddy had to leave the field after falling awkwardly. It would turn out to be a broken collar bone which will see him out for the remainder of the season.

The team dug deep and Aaron popped up from close range with 15 mins remaining for a deserved winner and hopefully something of a tonic for their injured team mate Paddy.

Excellent performances all over the park today with a smaller squad.  Player of the Match had to be split between John at left back with a faultless display while Ben on the right wing was simply unplayable. Another 3 points are up for grabs on Tuesday as they host Scone Thistle 2009 on the 3G at Breadalbane Community Campus 6.30ko.
